Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, Kingston, Ontario  –

In our solidarity with the poor, the victims of unjust distribution of wealth which exists in the world, we oppose inhuman conditions, seek justice and respect human dignity. We spare no efforts to awaken consciences to the demands of social justice in the light of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. (Constitutions 19)

The goals of our social justice work reflect one of the fundamental laws of ecology: Everything is connected to everything else.

We emphasize networking with other justice and environmental groups. Our ecumenical and inter-faith social justice work connects locally, provincially, federally, internationally – within the church and society at large. The Gospel, our Church’s social justice teachings, the spirit of Vatican II, our congregational constitutions and Mission Statements urge us to respond to the needs of the times.

Against that background we strive to have a well informed and committed congregation of Sisters and Associates in the area of Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation. We seek to raise public awareness of the evils of war and violence and to promote Gospel nonviolence and peacemaking. An overarching goal is to address global environmental and human rights issues, striving to be a prophetic voice for ecological integrity and the public good.
