In the midst of their own devastation and loss following Hurricane Maria’s destruction in Puerto Rico, the Sisters continued serving the people of the island.

By working with Water with Blessings, the Sisters received hundreds of water filters and training materials, mobilized volunteers and traveled to help those in desperate need due to lack of drinking water.

In Utuado, one of the most destroyed cities in Puerto Rico, the Sisters’ efforts provided more than 100 water filters and water storage containers. Going from house to house, the Sisters and volunteers distributed and trained everyone on how to use the filters.

Although clean drinking water is a critical need, Sister Elsa Medina shared that the personal touch also made a huge difference to the suffering people. Taking time to listen to their stories, knowing they were not alone, had a great impact on the people and the Sisters.
